ARK News… In response to the call of civil society organizations for a mass sit-in in rejection of the PYD administration’s decision to close private institutes and schools and deprive thousands of students of continuing their academic achievement, hundreds of our people went out with the students and their families at the sit-in on Wednesday morning 28/09/22 in front of the headquarters of the United Nations in Qamishlo, raising slogans to condemn the decision to close and demand its abolition, and restore hope to these students.

The presidency of the Kurdish National Council gave speeches to the sit-in, thanking them for their response to the invitation and for their participation in this stand, as an expression of their solidarity with our students and their rightful demands, and for the protection of their future.

The PYD gunmen attempted to break up the sit-in by force and with cars that penetrated the sit-in gathering and arrested many of them. They also seized mobile devices and prevented filming of the sit-in scenes and their brutal attacks on the peaceful sit-ins.

The Kurdish National Council, which expressed its solidarity with the call and its participation in it, reaffirms its condemnation of the decision to close those institutes and schools and demands to allow the students to continue their studies and return what they stole from the citizens of the phones and cameras.
