Kamiran Hajo, a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, said on Sunday, September 25, 2022, that the independence referendum of the Kurdistan Region was successful by all standards, and its results will be an important document in the hands of the Kurds.

On Sunday, passed the fifth anniversary of the Kurdistan Region referendum led by President Masoud Barzani, who was the President of the Kurdistan Region at the time.

Kamiran Hajo, Head of the Foreign Relations Office of the Kurdish National Council in Syria and a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, participated in the ARK Newsletter, which was special for the fifth anniversary of the independence referendum of the Kurdistan Region. It was a bold and brave decision. Pointing out that it is a message to the international community and the world at large.

Hajo indicated that the referendum was successful by all standards, and its results will be in the hands of the Kurds. He explained by saying that the Turks, Persians, and Arabs pride themselves on living in independent countries while preventing this from the Kurds. Stressing: that the Syrian opposition opposes the federalism of the Kurds in Syrian Kurdistan, for fear of a repeat of the referendum of the Kurdistan Region.

President Masoud Barzani published a tweet on his official page on Twitter on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the independence referendum in Kurdistan, verses belonging to the great Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shaabi on the anniversary of the independence referendum:

For his part, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, considered the 25th of September, the day when the will of the people triumphed, referring to the independence referendum that took place on that day in 2017, in which the overwhelming majority of participants voted in favor of independence by 92.7.

Masrour Barzani attached his tweet with a short video showing the citizens' enthusiasm to participate in the referendum, and in the background the voice of Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani resounds, saying that the courage of the Peshmerga and your steadfastness, the people of Kurdistan, are stronger than all power.

In the process of the independence referendum of Kurdistan, which took place on September 25, 2017, 92.7 percent voted in favor of independence, including Kirkuk and the rest of the Kurdistan regions outside the administration of the Kurdistan Region or the so-called (disputed areas).
