A statement from the Peace and Freedom Front regarding the PYD's decision to close schools in Syrian Kurdistan
ARK News... With the beginning of the new school year, the issue of education has once again been at the forefront of events in northeastern Syria, in addition to the economic and living problems our people suffer from, and the loss of security and safety, which has become worrying the families of our dear students for fear of them the future of their children in light of ill-considered and irresponsible decisions by the de facto authority, without thinking about the negative repercussions of them if they are implemented.
The de facto authority’s issuance of the decision to close private educational institutes and schools in the Syrian al-Jazeera region, after completing the registration processes in those institutes for thousands of students, the payment of installments and fees, and the actual start of the new school year, created a state of discontent and resentment among the students’ families who had endured a meeting enrolling their children is a great financial burden, and fear for their future and deprivation from continuing their education has become inevitable as a result of the application of this unjust decision, not to mention the loss of stability in society, in addition to all the heavy costs of life incurred by the general public in these difficult circumstances in which they live.
We at the Peace and Freedom Front condemn this irresponsible decision. We are very concerned about it, and we call for its reversal and the need for decisions to be outside the framework of political calculations, far from ideological and partisan considerations, and considering education one of the priorities of its agendas, dealing with it responsibly, and respecting freedom of choices. Students and their families in choosing the appropriate education curriculum for them, and taking into account the exceptional circumstances of the country before implementing such a decision that has no dire consequences, may harm the future of tens of thousands of our people, and increase the region’s loss of competencies and scientifically qualified cadres as a result of the emigration of its finest youth after the years of war, which threatens stability. And it opens the door wide to the spread of ignorance among the new generation and is a strong factor in pushing those who remain to emigrate and leave the country.
