ARK News… The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, on Thursday, September 15, 2022, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the strategic Sebilik-Khalifan road in the independent Soran administration.

In a ceremony attended by a number of ministers and local officials, the prime minister laid the foundation stone for the 8.5-km-long project, at a cost of 65 billion dinars, with a completion period of 600 days.

In a speech delivered during the ceremony, the Prime Minister said that the Sebilik-Khalifan road is one of the strategic projects that the ninth ministerial formation included in its government program to implement high-quality roads and streets throughout the Kurdistan Region.

He stressed: "We paid great attention to constructing roads and establishing a strong economic structure, and we have implemented many of these projects throughout Kurdistan, and we seek to increase these projects."

The Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the people of Soran and its officials, on the occasion of the anniversary of its declaration of an independent administration, and praised the performance of its officials, adding: "The achievements of this region over the past year are clearly visible. We will spare no effort to support them to achieve more."

The Prime Minister urged citizens, especially drivers, to fully abide by traffic instructions to avoid traffic accidents that occur due to high speed.

He pointed out that the Kurdistan Regional Government has developed its plans to construct more dual roads in line with international standards, which will reflect positively on the tourism movement.

And the prime minister indicated that Soran enjoys specialness, whether through the great sacrifices she made during the period of defending Kurdistan's achievements and rights or in terms of its beautiful nature.

He continued, "We have many programs to increase tourism interest in this region to attract more tourists from within the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, the region, and abroad."

Masrour Barzani indicated that the government has plans and programs to implement many other projects, including projects in the Sidkan-Bradost region and the Barzan region, within the Soran region (Soran Independent Administration Center), including converting the strategic Hamilton Road into a two-way road, explaining that these projects will be implemented in stages.

Since it began its duties about 3 years ago, the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government headed by Masrour Barzani has completed many strategic infrastructure projects, especially in the field of roads and bridges, as well as electricity, food, health, and others.
