Biden calls for a road map to get out of the current blockage in Iraq

ARK News... US President Joe Biden, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, called for a road map to end the ten-month political stalemate in Iraq.

This came in a phone call that Biden had with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazhemi to discuss the escalating tensions in Iraq, especially the events of the Green Zone.

A statement issued by Al-Kazhemi’s media office stated that Biden expressed, during the call, "the United States support for an independent and sovereign Iraq, as set out in the Strategic Framework Agreement between the United States and Iraq."

The statement indicated that Biden praised Al-Kazhemi’s role during the escalation of political tensions and recent security events in the country, valued the performance of the Iraqi security forces, and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.

The statement added, "Biden called on all Iraqi leaders to engage in a national dialogue to develop a road map in order to get out of the current blockage in accordance with Iraq's constitution and laws."
