The seventh anniversary of the departure of the head of journalists Syndicate Jiwan Mirani

Mar 15 2022

ARK News. Every year, on the thirteenth of March, we remember the departure of the first captain of Kurdistan-Syria journalists, journalist Joan Mirani, who closed his eyes to the pain of this life and forever in the year 2015 after a life full of work and struggle at all levels without fatigue or tirelessness, but fate did not allow him to complete many projects and dreams that remained unfulfilled, and his passing hurt the hearts of many of his fans, family, and friends.

The late Jiwan Mirani, in all his stances, articles, and contributions, was an example of a Kurdish journalist committed to the hopes and pains of his Kurdish nation, defending its right to independence and freedom after prolonged enslavement, and this defense was one of his priorities in life.

He began his life of struggle, whether in western Kurdistan or in the south of the country, by carrying weapons with the Peshmerga in the mountains of Kurdistan, and when the sound of bullets subsided, he took up his pen instead of the gun, and he fought with it until the last breath of his life.

After seven difficult years for the Kurds, the reality of the press in the homeland of the late Juan is still from bad to worse, the governing authority of the PYD Administration, at the direct instigation of the Democratic Union Party, and it's military and civil organizations, it still looks at the Kurdish media, who does not follow it or is loyal to it, with the eye of the opponent, rather the enemy, and it makes up various flimsy pretexts to restrict them, kidnap them, and keep them in its prisons without any legal justification, and three of our colleagues are still in the prisons of the Democratic Union Party, they are Sabri Fakhri, Ahmed Sofi, and Dara Abdo.

We are in the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate Council- Syria, we are still remembering this painful day, we call for the unification of the media body in Syrian Kurdistan, and we demand the inclusion of the efforts of Kurdish journalists in a real strong organization that defends the rights of Kurdish journalists.

On this occasion, we confirm that on the seventh anniversary of the departure of the first captain of Kurdistan journalists-Syria, we are proceeding to award the annual “Jiwan Mirani Award” until April 22 of this year, the Kurdish Press Day.
