The head of the Peace and Freedom Front meets with the US Deputy Secretary of State

ARK News... Ahmed Al-Jarba, head of the Peace and Freedom Front, met in Cairo, on Wednesday, with Mr. Ethan Goldrich, the Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for the Middle East and Syria affairs, in the presence of the Cairo Platform coordinator, Mr. Firas Al-Khalidi.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the front gave an explanation of the general situation in Syria, the latest field developments in the Syrian Al-Jazeera region, and the developments of the political process. The meeting also dealt with the situation of the Syrian opposition in light of the political stalemate in the negotiating process. The meeting also touched on the status of the negotiating body, the Cairo platform, and the Peace and Freedom Front.

The head of the Peace and Freedom Front, Sheikh Ahmad al-Jarba, expressed his satisfaction with the atmosphere of the meeting, praising Goldrich’s statements that express the firmness of the American position in refusing to grant any legitimacy to the Syrian regime, before establishing a political solution based on international resolution 2254.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination between them.

Goldrich’s meeting with the head of the Peace and Freedom Front comes as part of the US envoy's tour in the Middle East, which included Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, then Egypt, and from there to Saudi Arabia.
