ARK News. French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Kyiv today, Tuesday, where he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss ways to end the tension between his country and Russia.

Macron's visit to Ukraine comes after his meeting with his Russian counterpart Putin on Monday in Moscow. The French president had presented proposals to resolve the current crisis between Ukraine and Russia, including not taking new military initiatives from the two sides, and launching peace negotiations and strategic dialogue.

The French presidency stated that Macron's proposals include a commitment not to take new military initiatives from both sides and to start a dialogue dealing with the Russian military deployment, in particular, peace negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine, and the beginning of strategic dialogue.

On Monday, the Russian leader said after more than five hours of talks with Macron that "some of the ideas" of his French counterpart "could form the basis for joint progress" and would speak to Macron again after his visit to Kyiv.

Macron said that President Putin "assured me his readiness to adhere to this logic and his desire to preserve stability and territorial integrity of Ukraine."

Macron will then meet in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Schulz, who has just returned from Washington, as part of a series of European diplomatic efforts over the current and next two weeks.
