Iranian militia deploys "surface-to-surface" missiles near US bases in Raqqa

Media sources on Tuesday reported that the Iranian militias began deploying surface-to-surface missiles near Raqqa in areas under the control of the Syrian regime forces and close to US bases.

Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper quoted sources as saying that the militias began deploying about 20 “Al-Muhandis” missiles on a number of regime forces’ military points in the eastern countryside of Raqqa.

It explained that the missiles were distributed to the points on which the Syrian regime flag was raised, to avoid being targeted by the aviation, confirming that the batch of missiles arrived from Deir Ez-Zour to the town of al-Sabkha, east of Raqqa.

The newspaper reported that the deployment of the missiles coincides with the militias' deployment of a group of drones in the city of Hasaka, which confirms, in his view, that Iran does not intend to de-escalate the escalation with the United States.

The US bases in eastern Syria were bombed several times by drones and medium-range missiles by Iranian militias.

Days ago, local Syrian sources confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard had brought in 50 drones through Qamishlo Airport and from there transferred them to the regime's 154th Turtub Regiment, west of Qamishlo city, via containers under the supervision of specialists from the Lebanese Hezbollah militia and Syrian regime officers.

Those sources added that these planes will be used for training purposes within a special training program on how to collect information, spy, and launch terrorist attacks.
