Iraqi politician: Zibari on a date with winning the presidency

Al-Alosi explained to (BasNews), that "a small demonstration by several people against Zebari's candidacy certainly does not represent the opinion of the Iraqi street, and it is just a whirlwind in a cup," adding, "They tried to exaggerate it in the media, but these efforts have failed."
Al-Alosi explained, "The losing parties in the elections must accept democracy, which means the rule of the winning majority, and the losing minority must be on the side of the opposition in order for the political process to proceed properly."
The Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, on Thursday, February 7, was announced as the date for the session to elect the President of the Republic.
And it added, "It was decided to announce the names of the candidates for the post of President of the Republic who met the legal conditions on next Monday, January 31, after completing the legal procedures based on the Law of Provisions for Candidacy for the Post of President of the Republic No. 8 of 2012."
And she added, "At the meeting, Monday, February 7, was set as the date for the parliament session to elect the president of the republic."
Hoshyar Zibari, a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, officially submitted his papers to run for the post of President of the Iraqi Republic on January 12th.
Zibari, who was born in 1953, held the position of Iraqi Foreign Minister from 2004-2014, and then as Minister of Finance until September 2016. He was officially nominated for the position of President of the Republic.
