ARK News: Wednesday, November 3, 2021, was the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of the two Kurdish leaders, the former General Secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria al-Party Kamal Ahmed Darwish, and Sheikhmous Youssef, a member of the political bureau of the Kurdish Left Party in Syria in Syrian Kurdistan, who were killed in a traffic accident on Hasaka-Qamishlo Road, at 9:00 pm 3.11.1996.

About the life of the two Kurdish leaders:

The martyr Kamal Ahmed Darwish:

The martyr Kamal Ahmed Darwish was born in the city of Sari Kaniye in the Hasaka Governorate – in Syrian Kurdistan in 1939. He began his studies in the province’s schools, especially in the city of Qamishlo, and finished the three stages of his primary, preparatory, and secondary studies in the governorate’s schools, and then moved to the University of Aleppo, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws.

He joined the ranks of the party in 1958, and he was elected a member of the Area Committee of the party in 1970. He was elected a member of the party’s central committee in 1977, and he was elected general secretary of the party in 1979 of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (Al-Party) in the seventh conference that was held in the spring of 1995.

Kamal Ahmed Darwish was one of those who established the first Kurdish alliance in Syria, and he was also one of the first to seek to build the Kurdish Democratic Alliance in Syria the last, and he was elected as a representative of the party and the Kurdish National Movement in Syria as a member of the Syrian People's Assembly in the elections for the fifth legislative session of the Syrian Parliament.

The Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, Kamal Ahmad Darwish, was martyred with Sheikhmous Youssef, a member of the political bureau of the Kurdish Left Party in Syria, in a traffic accident on the Hasaka-Qamishlo road, at 9:00 pm on the night of 3.11.1996.

About the life of the fighter Sheikhmous Youssef:

The martyr Sheikhmous Youssef was born in the village of Al-Qahtaniyah of Chil Agha town in 1948 in the Derik area in Syrian. He comes from a family known for its authentic patriotism. He joined the ranks of the Kurdish Left Party in 1965 and completed his high school education in al-Jazira schools.

He was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdish Left Party in 1987, and in 1993 a member of the Political Bureau, and he was one of the founders of the Kurdish Alliance in 1992, he worked as a member of the Supreme Committee of the Kurdish Democratic Alliance, he was married and had eight children.

The two martyrs Kamal Ahmed Darwish and Sheikhmous Youssef were martyred in a tragic traffic accident on the Hasaka-Qamishlo road on 03/11/1996 after their return from an official mission in Hasaka regarding the unfair census of 1961 against the Kurdish people and depriving a large part of it of nationality:

With a solemn ceremony, we were buried in the Qaddour Beg cemetery in Qamishlo, and with their loss, a gap occurred in the history of the Kurdish movement, and the Kurds are still proud of their struggle and honorable history in the service of Kurdish nationalism, and every year from this day the Kurds remember the memory of their martyrdom.
