ARK News… Thousands of sons and daughters of the Kurdish people in Syria flocked to the identified places by the Kurdish National Council in all regions to commemorate the forty-second anniversary of the departure of the immortal leader in the conscience of his people, Mustafa Barzani, in fulfillment of the sacrifices, loyalty, and defense he made for the rights of the Kurdish people and their issue against the most powerful dictatorships in the region, to be crowned as a symbol and inspiration for the struggles of subsequent generations throughout the four parts of Kurdistan.

While the Kurdish people responded to the Kurdish National Council’s call to express its loyalty to one of its national symbols, the mass turnout was met with harassment and prevention by the security authorities of the Democratic Union Party in some areas.

In Derik city, the media monitor, Ahmed Sofi, was arrested during the celebration, and the hand was placed on loudspeakers, and the celebrants were subjected to provocations by their gunmen.

The Asayish also asked the owner of the stadium in which the celebration was to be held, not to allow the celebration there.

In Chil Agha, Girke Lage, and Tirbaspiye, where a member of the local council, Hassan Gharbi Abdik, was arrested a day before the celebration, he was threatened not to participate, tortured, and insulted.

Fawaz Ali, Bahzad Brouji, and Hasan Abu Shanku, who is still detained, were also arrested, and loudspeakers were seized, and despite this harassment, the celebration was successful, and in Amouda the owner of the hall in which the celebration was to be held was informed of the ban.

The Kurdish National Council extends its high esteem to the Kurdish people who answered its call to commemorate the forty-second anniversary of the departure of the eternal leader, it condemns the practices issued by the security authorities of the Democratic Union Party that target confidence-building measures that the Council demanded not to interfere with its activities, which they acknowledged this at the end of 2019 through an official statement issued by them.

On this historical occasion, we affirm our keenness on the unity of the Kurdish position according to solid foundations that achieve true partnership away from unilateralism and monopoly and attempts to dominate by force, and we call on the guarantors and sponsors to put an end to these actions that target the negotiations that took place and an understanding was made on important issues that serve the interest of the Kurdish people.
