Kurdistan Region: The departure of the Kurdish Politician Roj Nori Shawis
ARK News… Kurdish prominent politician from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Roj Nori Shaways, died on Monday at the age of 74.
Agencies reported that Shaways served in several top positions both in Erbil and Baghdad, including Kurdistan Parliament speaker, Iraq’s deputy prime minister, and vice president, as well as the prime minister of Kurdistan Region’s 3rd cabinet.
According to agencies that he was born in 1974 in Sulaimaniyah, studied in Baghdad and Mosul before moving to Germany for his Ph.D. in electrical engineering.
Shaways departed today Monday, February 15 at a hospital in Erbil the capital of the Kurdistan region, which is considered a great loss for Kurdistan in general and for the Kurdistan Region in particular and has served the Kurdish cause with pride, sincerity, and honor.
