Kurdistan Commemorates Victims of 2004 Terrorist Attack

ARK News… On 1st February 2004, two suicide bombers in two separate attacks blew themselves up inside the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), which led to the martyrdom of 101 people and wounding hundreds more.

Among the victims were senior officials from both parties, Peshmerga, as well as civilians. They were gathering to celebrate the first day of Eid al-Adha.

Later Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs Affairs issued a statement to remember the victims and announce that there was no special ceremony like the previous years due to the pandemic restrictions.
