Erbil Governor Dr. Firsat Sofi died due to Coronavirus

ARK News… The governor of Erbil, Firsat Sofi, died of complications from the Coronavirus.

Firsat Sofi, 42 years old, was infected with the Coronavirus about a month ago, and he was transferred to Turkey after his health deteriorated before he passed away this morning, Wednesday.

The governor’s office on October 20, announced that Sofi was infected with the new Coronavirus, after testing positive results appeared.

A brief biography of Firsat Sofi as follows bellow:

• Born in 1978 - Erbil.

• Doctorate in Public Law - University of Salahuddin.

• Member of Kurdistan Parliament - the fourth session 2009-2013.

• Member of the Legal Advisory Board in the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region, 2010-2018.

• Member of the committee for writing the constitution of the Kurdistan Region in 2015.

• Member of the Supreme Committee for Combating Corruption, 2016-2018.

• Chairman of the Interim Committee for the Internal Curriculum of Kurdistan Parliament, 2014-2018.

• Governor of Erbil in 2019, and continued his duties until his death.
