Afrin... Theft of olive crops through the Public Authority for Zakat and by force
ARK News: A Human Rights Organization working to document violations in the Kurdish region of Afrin reported on its main page of Facebook, today, 08.11.2020, that Since the entry of the Turkish forces with armed groups and factions into Afrin, March 2018, and until today, the elements of the armed militias affiliated with the Arab settlers, under the direct direction of the Turkish forces, intended the process of impoverishing the Kurdish people in the Kurdish region of Afrin, through the destruction of the economic infrastructure, whether commercial, industrial or agricultural, which constitutes the basic income of the Kurdish citizens of Afrin region, and today, the General Authority for “Zakat” issued a decision bearing the number 59 on 08/11/2020, through which it requires, in the form of a request from owners of olive crops, to pay the “Zakat” of their crops at a rate of 5% of half a tenth through the General Authority for “Zakat” represented by the departments and sub-committees in the controlled areas, and the quorum of the olive harvest is determined from olive grain 673 kg and of olive oil 128 kg.
The Organization added that there are other mentioned substances in the decision, including the executive, and in case of abstaining, the taxpayers can deposit a copy of the report with the competent police department to take the implementation measures duly.
The Organization concluded its report by saying, “However, the General Authority for “Zakat” did not mention in its various articles the fate of the thieves and how to deal with them while they stole the Kurdish farmers' crops and robbed them by force of arms and confiscated the properties of the indigenous Kurds forcibly displaced and the “Zakat” percentages of their theft. Adding that, is the theft, pillage, and plunder of the Kurds' crops permissible or forbidden?
