ARK News… German police announced on Wednesday the arrest of a suspect in a stabbing attack that left one dead and wounded in the eastern city of Dresden early this month.
The police confirmed that the arrested was a 20-year-old Syrian youth, who was arrested Tuesday evening, noting that he drew the investigators' attention as a result of examining the evidence at the site of the attack.
The police did not reveal the name of the arrested person or the motives for the attack.
"Bild" newspaper reported that investigators discovered the young man's DNA on the knife, which was found near the crime scene, adding that the detainee was previously known to the authorities.
The newspaper "Spiegel" confirmed that the arrested young man arrived in Germany in 2015 and the German government had previously refused to grant him refugee status.
The newspaper revealed that the detainee had previously been imprisoned for two and a half years on charges of committing a crime threatening state security, especially when he was suspected of recruiting new elements to "ISIS".
The attack, which occurred in Dresden on the fourth of October, resulted in the death of a 55-year-old driver and the injury of another 53-year-old.
