U.S. House speaker Pelosi: legislation soon addressing racial profiling

Jun 03 2020

ARK News.. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Tuesday that decisions would be made “in just a short period of time” on legislation to address racial profiling and actions by police, amid days of mass protests in the United States.

She said lawmakers were discussing different proposals, with some wanting a “comprehensive” bill.

"The country needs quiet and stable leadership," said Senate Democratic Leader Senator Chuck Schumer, noting that President Trump "has never shown those advantages."

Schumer called for the adoption of legislation against racial discrimination by July 4, the US National Day "Independence Day."

It should be noted that Schumer also submitted a draft resolution to Congress condemning Trump's order to disperse demonstrators in Lafayette, and Democrats have taken other initiatives in light of the continuing protests against racism and police violence in the country.
