Kurdistan President: PKK Causing Trouble with Its Illegitimate Presence
ARK News.. The Presence of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Kurdistan Region is illegitimate and it caused troubles, said Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani.
“Does the PKK respect the sovereignty of Iraq or Kurdistan Region? Does the PKK set up positions here legitimately? … Of course not,” Barzani said during a press conference on Monday discussing a range of issues, including the recent Turkish airstrikes against the PKK inside Kurdistan Region.
Barzani said it is expectable to see Turkey’s reaction when the PKK establishes positions and attacks Turkey from the Kurdistan Region.
“What the PKK is doing now is not helpful at all. In contradiction, it causes troubles to the Kurdistan Region.”
Commenting on his earlier meeting with the vice presidents, Barzani said they discussed the formation of the new government in Baghdad, and they reiterated support for PM-designate Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
“It was not a decision by the presidency to support Kadhimi, but it was a decision made by all the political factions [of Kurdistan Region].”
Meanwhile, Barzani thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for its successful and effective measures which seems to have the coronavirus outbreak under control now. He also thanked the health workers, police, Peshmerga, and security forces for fighting the challenge selflessly.
