President Barzani: Step up Efforts for International Recognition of Anfal as Act of Genocide
ARK News.. The Anfal campaign by the Baath regime against the people of Kurdistan should be recognized as “genocide” by the international community, said president Masoud Barzani on Tuesday.
Barzani saluted the martyrs of Anfal campaign in an official statement to mark the 32nd anniversary of the beginning of the genocidal attack by the Baath regime.
“We reiterate that the efforts should continue to receive an international recognition of Anfal as an act of genocide,” Barzani pointed out, reminding that the Iraqi government is responsible for the compensation of the families affected by Anfal.
“The Kurdistan Regional Government should spare no efforts in serving the families of the victims of Anfal, and repatriate the bodies of the martyrs to their homeland,” the statement continued.
