ARK News.. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the spread of novel coronavirus in the regime-held areas in the wake of the Syrian authorities’ misinformation.

According to reliable SOHR sources, nearly 300 persons have been quarantined in Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia, Tartous, Homs, Hama and Daraa, 109 of whom were tested negative and left quarantine.

Meanwhile, 28 persons have been confirmed infected, three women of whom have already died: a nurse in Tartous, another woman and her relative in Damascus, while unconfirmed reports suggested the death of more people as a result of the virus. However, Syrian regime keeps hiding the real cause of deaths claiming that those cases died of pneumonia.

For their part, Syrian regime keeps disseminating misleading information and acknowledged of the death of only two cases and infection of ten others. Meanwhile, the town of Manin in Rif Dimashq, where two cases died, has been quarantined entirely.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that reliable medical sources there said, we seek to raise awareness, not fear, of all Syrians in regime-held areas so that they can adopt necessary measures to keep themselves safe, at a time when Syrian government is mishandling such a serious issue (the spread of coronavirus) and hiding facts and information.

SOHR sources reported that the number of infected cases of coronavirus among Iranian-backed militias in Al-Mayadeen rose to 29 (16 Iranians and 13 Iraqis), five of whom were infected while being in the southern countryside of Aleppo.

This development comes as regime authorities insist on keeping the infected cases among Iranian and Iraqi militias operating in Syria undeclared.
