UN official: Solving the refugee crisis by finding a political solution in Syria and supporting Turkey

The President of the United Nations General Assembly, Nigerian Tijani Mohamed Pandey, said that the best way to solve the refugee crisis is to find a political solution to the conflict in Syria and provide the necessary support to Turkey, pointing out that the refugee crisis is not only a problem limited to Turkey, but rather the problem of the entire world.

In a statement to "Anatolia" on Sunday, Pandey said that the internal war in Syria has continued for many years, and that the United Nations is doing its utmost to end the ongoing conflict in this country, praising the assistance provided by the Turkish government to refugees residing on its lands, calling on the international community to support Ankara in this particular.

He added saying: "We must continue to support Turkey in order to provide an opportunity for continuing education for the children of Syrian refugees, and I call on the international community to continue to support Turkey because it embraces the refugees in the name of everyone."

Regarding the proposals of changing the structure of the Security Council and its mechanism of work, Pandey said that discussions on this matter are continuing, hoping that this matter will be achieved before the end of his term as President of the United Nations General Assembly.
