A delegation of Afrin notables meets with the Turkish governor and holds him responsible for violations of armed groups and displaced families

ARK News: A delegation of notables from Afrin region Kurdistan of Syria met, on Saturday, with the Turkish governor in Afrin city and held him responsible for systematic violations by armed groups, as well as violations by the newly displaced families of looting Kurdish people’s properties.

“The meeting with the Turkish governor centered about a number of issues, the most important of which are: the continuing armed manifestations in Afrin, the continued kidnapping of civilians and extorting them in return for their release and the theft of their property, changing the names of squares and streets boards, threats of gunmen to seize the olive season, in addition to the settlers of al-Ghouta are violating against people of the region from thefts and the seizure of their properties daily, the same source added. "

"For his part, a member of the local council in the city of Afrin denied knowledge and the participation of the Council in the process of changing the names of squares in the city, and armed groups and in collusion with some influential in the city have changed the names of squares in the city and replaced with Arabic and Turkish names.

The source added, that the director of the service of Afrin Local Council, Jassim Saleh Al-Jassim, who is from Al-Sefira area and who worked with the PYD system in the services, changed the names of the squares in the city of Afrin, where the "Kawa" Circle was renamed into the "Olive Branch" and "Al-Watani" Circle into "Martyrs of March 18".

The source said that "the delegation spoke at length about the violations that carried out by most of the displaced people of Al-Ghouta the countryside of Homs and held the Turkish side responsible for bringing them to the region and now they steal and seize the property of the people without moral and legal deterrent by the Turkish army."

It is noteworthy that pro-Turkish army armed groups, which participated in the occupation of the city of Afrin, committed dozens of crimes against the residents of Afrin, such as murder, kidnapping, robbery, theft, burning crops, and appropriating citizens' property, as well as the destruction of archaeological and religious monuments and deliberately set fire to trees of the forests, and now these factions change Kurdish features to the Arabic and Turkish, the purpose of which is to destroy the infrastructure of the Kurdish region and change its demographics and landmarks.
