ARK News: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on Friday, January 17, 2020, said that his country is verifying information that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are releasing terrorists for money.

This came during an expanded press conference held in Moscow to review the outcome of the work of the Russian Foreign Ministry in 2019.

Lavrov said that facing terrorism in Syria is among Russia's priorities, stressing that the crisis in Syria has reached an advanced stage of the settlement.

Lavrov added that about 10,000 terrorists are located in the east of the Euphrates region in Syria.

He stressed saying: "We are checking information that says the SDF is freeing terrorists at a certain price.”

He added that the settlement process in Syria has reached an advanced stage, "but the path of re-actions is still somewhat late due to the position of some western and regional parties."

Lavrov announced that the UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, is planning to visit Moscow next week.
