ARK News: US Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Millie met with his Russian counterpart, Valery Gerasimov, in Switzerland on Wednesday, for talks aimed at "increasing contact" between Washington and Moscow in Syria, to "avoid confrontations or dangers in conflict areas."
A spokesman for the US Joint Chiefs of Staff D.S. Hal Vile said in a statement, both military leaders discussed issues of strategic stability in Syria, and another set of issues to improve understanding, reduce risks, and prevent clashes. According to what was reported on the website of the American Ministry of Defense, American officials considered that the meeting in Switzerland was not an attempt to restore US-Russian relations to normal, noting that Russian activities in Ukraine, Georgia, Syria and Libya, and Russian efforts to divide NATO, "are cause for concern."
