ARK News: The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council issued a statement on the occasion of the seventy-first anniversary of the International Day for Human Rights, the following is the text of the statement:

On the tenth of December 1948, the United Nations General Assembly approved this day, World Day for Human Rights this announcement came after a terrible suffering of human rights crimes witnessed by mankind, especially during the First and Second World Wars, and the articles of the declaration include basic principles for protecting the human being, regardless of his ethnic or religious affiliation, or according to his gender or color.

Although this declaration is one of the most important expressions of international will and is extremely important, it is at the same time one of the most declarations, charters and international covenants exposed to flagrant violations, mankind still suffers from injustice and various crimes in many places and countries, and women and children are most vulnerable to these crimes, many peoples remain deprived of their most basic human rights and suffer double persecution; the Kurdish people are a living example of this, as they have been subjected to long-term national oppression at the hands of the regimes of the countries that share their homeland, Kurdistan, and Kurdish people were deprived of their most basic national and human rights and even of the rights of citizenship, and a war of genocide against them amounted to the use of chemical weapons, Turkey denies the most basic of their national rights as well as Iran, in addition to what the Kurdish youth in it at the hands of the mullahs regime are subjecting to field executions on the gallows in horrific scenes, and in Syria, the Kurdish people were subjected to multiple persecution and systematic racist policies and projects aimed at their existence and erasing their national characteristics, and during the years of the Syrian revolution, the sons of the Kurdish people were not immune from the crimes committed against the sons of the Syrian people in general, with their various categories and national and social components, which tasted the bitterness of the atrocities that history has never seen before, especially women and children among them, and the city of Kobani was subjected to the invasion of terrorism led by ISIS and committed terrible crimes against its people, the Afrin region is still subject to terrible violations at the hands of gangs of armed groups that accompanied the Turkish forces there, and, as they did in Afrin, they are now carrying out these crimes in Sari Kaniye (Ras Al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad) and their countryside, later, both countryside of north of Tal Tamr and west of Al-Zarkan (Abu Rasain) since the Turkish attack at the beginning of the tenth month, from killings, displacement, royalties, and armed robbery to citizens’ property, in addition to resettling the families of the militias and the people of other regions of Syria there with the aim of making a demographic change, as it was rejected and condemned by large circles in the world, not to mention the displacement of nearly three hundred thousand who are living in tragic conditions in the winter season.

The Kurdish National Council and on the occasion of the seventy-first anniversary of the proclamation of the International Day for Human Rights renews its condemnation of these violations and crimes committed within the sight of the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations and with the sight and hearing of the Turkish forces supporting them, and demands them to deter those groups, hold them accountable, remove them from the region, help the people of those areas to return safely to their homes, and hand over their administration to their sons with international care and protection, and also on this occasion the Kurdish National Council renews its condemnation of the practices and violations carried out by the PYD of restricting political freedoms and the arrest and abduction of many cadres of the Council and activists of the mass movement and opinion-makers and calls for their release to close the arrest file and violate human rights.

Likewise, the Kurdish National Council, in fulfillment of this day, its values and principles, and the effort made by the first to enact its principles, calls on the United Nations and its affiliated concerned organizations with human rights and the relevant authorities and countries to rise from humanitarian commitment to the provisions of the Declaration to binding laws and their application with mechanisms that depend so; and appeals to all democratic and peace and good powers to intensify the struggle to protect human rights, safeguard their dignity and build a society of justice, peace and equality in the world.
