"Zorava" the Kurdish neighborhood in Damascus lacks the minimum necessities of life

ARK News: The Kurdish neighborhood of Zorava in the Syrian capital of Damascus suffers from clear negligence in terms of service, without paying any attention of the regime to the reality of the mentioned neighborhood.

The neighborhood, which is located on the outskirts of Damascus, is predominantly Kurdish and is considered a slum neighborhood around the Syrian capital, with the majority of the population living in the poor class of workers and university students.

Zorava is considered one of the most neglected and marginalized neighborhoods in Damascus, as the neighborhood lacks the minimum housing to be available in any human community, amid in the absence of any kind of services, although it is only a few hundred meters from the presidential palace.

According to a resident of the neighborhood, the neglect of the neighborhood has reached an intolerable level of streets filled with pits, and garbage is accumulated in tons, basic services such as water and electricity are almost non-existent, as there is no clear rationing program to cut electricity, unlike other neighborhoods in Damascus.

“ We are forced to send our children to schools located kilometers away from our homes because there is not a single school in the neighborhood, '' said Esam, and many parents refrain from sending their children to schools because they are unable to afford the cost of buses or fear of traffic accidents.
