Syrian Coalition: Russian Onslaught Aims to Sow Despair & Cause Panic Among Civilians to Force them to Flee

ARK News: The Syrian National Coalition strongly condemned the intensifying Russian onslaught against civilians in the liberated areas. It stressed that the targeting of medical facilities, schools, and populated areas is aimed at sowing despair and panic amongst the civilian population and force them to flee.

The Coalition pointed out that the deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of the latest military escalation risks stripping the political process of any credibility and undermining the constitutional process of which the second round of talks began on Monday.

The Coalition called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take the necessary measures to stop the targeting of vital civilian centers and ensure protection for civilians. It stressed the need to implement the provisions of the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN resolution 2254 regarding the establishment of a nationwide ceasefire.

The Coalition saluted the people of Idlib who are showing great patience and heroic resistance to the crimes being committed by the Assad regime and its backers. It emphasized that “the struggle of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity is unparalleled in modern history, which increases our determination to commit to the realization of their aspirations and hopes.”

Russian jets on Sunday launched precision attacks on healthcare facilities in rural Idlib. An airstrike directly hit the main hospital in the town of Kiwan south of the city of Idlib, putting it out of service and causing huge fires in the place.

The latest attacks came as part of a systematic bombing campaign the Russian and Assad regime forces launched against healthcare facilities in northwestern Syria. Russian jets on November 5 bombed the Ikhlas Hospital in the town of Shanan, putting it out of service and wounding three of its staff.

Western newspapers have recently revealed that the Russian Air Force has been involved in the deliberate bombing of hospitals in northwestern Syria in support of the Assad regime.
