Vatican: Peshmerga fought Da’esh on behalf of all humanity
ARK News: President Masoud Barzani received, on Sunday, November 10, 2019, the Vatican Ambassador to Iraq, Alberto Martin Ortega, in the resort of Salahuddin, near Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting, the Vatican Ambassador expressed his thanks for the role of President Barzani and the Peshmerga forces in defeating ISIS terrorists, stressing that the Peshmerga fought on behalf of all humanity, according to a statement by the President's Office.
The Vatican ambassador also thanked the government and people of the Kurdistan Region for defending the displaced, refugees and religious and national components and opening the doors of the region to them during the difficult days.
In another aspect of the meeting, the political situation, demonstrations, protests of the people of Baghdad and the southern Iraqi provinces were discussed and stressed the legitimate demands of the demonstrators, and both sides agreed that violence from any side was deepening the problems of Iraq.
During the meeting, they also discussed bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Vatican.
