Barzani: PKK wanted to gain legitimacy through its presence in Syrian Kurdistan
ARK News: The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said that the PKK wanted to gain legitimacy through its presence in western Kurdistan.
During his participation in a conference of the Institute of Meri entitled “End the war and win peace in the Middle East” the President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani spoke on the latest developments in Syrian Kurdistan on the impact of the Turkish attack, Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan region continues its efforts to help the Kurds in Syria.
The President of the Kurdistan Region: There is no doubt that what affects the Kurds in Western Kurdistan hurts us, but unfortunately the PKK wanted to gain legitimacy through its presence in Western Kurdistan.
Barzani pointed out that the government of the region has made great diplomatic efforts to spare the Syrian Kurds more pain, and we are trying to help our people thereby various means.
He added: Our concerns stem from the attacking factions with the Turkish army, which provided a bad example in Afrin, stressing that Turkey has confirmed in all previous meetings that it has no problems with the Kurds, but with the PKK.
Barzani pointed out that there was communication between him and the commander of the SDF General Mazloum Kobani, meetings also took place.
He continued: I discussed with General Mazloum a lot of things, and according to our past experiences we help them in finding a political solution to all problems, stressing that the Kurdish issue does not work with military solutions and should be a political solution.
