Clarification from the Office of the President Masoud Barzani

ARK News: The office of President Masoud Barzani denied any agreement with the head of the Iraqi Platform Iyad Allawi regarding the change of Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution on the status of Kirkuk.

"Some media channels reported misleading news that in the last meeting between Barzani and Allawi, an agreement was reached on a change in Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution concerning the normalization of the status of Kirkuk and the disputed areas between Erbil and Baghdad," a statement said.

He continued, "while we reject this news altogether, we make it clear that the people of Kurdistan are well aware that President Barzani has only the most important people of Kurdistan and their land and legitimate rights."

The statement stressed that "President Barzani cannot compromise on the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan or to give up."

The statement pointed out that President Barzani made clear on many occasions that any change in the constitution will be rejected so as to affect and detract from the rights of our people and our privacy and that the people of Kurdistan know well the parties that bargain on their rights.
