US forces conduct their first patrols in Syrian Kurdistan after the announcement of their withdrawal
ARK News: US forces conducted their first patrol, on Thursday, October 31, 2019, in Syrian Kurdistan, after withdrawing from the area earlier this month.
According to Reuters, the US forces on Thursday, a patrol composed of five armored vehicles from its base in the town of Rmelan in Derik area, heading to the border with Turkey north of the town of Tirbaspiye in Syrian Kurdistan.
It is noteworthy that the US forces were patrolling in this region, before withdrawing from several border points with Turkey, following the launch of a military operation in the region.
The US Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, has said this on October 21, he said that the goal of the presence of US troops in Syria is to protect the oil installations, "so do not fall into the hands of the terrorist organization Da’esh."
