Erdogan: We will expand the safe area with the Knowledge of America, and Turkey reserves the right to resume military operation
ARK News: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that his country will expand the safe area in Syria with an agreement with Washington if necessary, stressing Turkey's readiness to resume its military operation against Kurdish forces.
Erdogan, in a speech to the Justice and Development Party (AKP) bloc in Turkey's parliament, said on Wednesday that his country would expand what it calls the safe zone it has set up in northeastern Syria with a depth of 30 km if necessary in agreement with the United States.
Erdogan noted that the information available to Turkey is stating that Kurdish forces did not fully withdraw from the region contrary to what was agreed with Russia in the memorandum of understanding reached with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on October 22.
He stressed that Turkey reserves the right to resume its military operation "if it turns out that the Kurdish forces are not deported to a depth of 30 kilometers or if the attacks continue from anywhere."
