Germany is ready to send troops and heavy weapons to Syrian Kurdistan

ARK News: Germany could send 2,500 troops to Syria if an "international safe zone" is proposed by German Defense Minister Angrett Kramp-Karenbauer, the German newspaper Der Spiegel reported on Friday.

According to the newspaper, the mission of the troops that will be sent if the proposal is achieved Germany will include reconnaissance and special engineering units, as well as armored personnel carriers, howitzers "and other heavy weapons, while the air force will be reinforced by the fighters "Tornado" and "Eurofighter", provided that the duration of their presence in that region does not exceed two years.

The proposed safe zone will be divided into sectors 40 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide, the newspaper quoted military experts at the German Defense Ministry as saying.

NATO discussed the German proposal on Friday, and its Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the creation of a security zone under international control in Syria was the task of the United Nations and needed a resolution.
