ARK News: US President Donald Trump has instructed the US Treasury Secretary to lift all sanctions against Turkey, promising Ankara at the same time harsh sanctions if it breaches its obligations.

Speaking from the White House, Trump said Turkey had told his administration that the truce would be permanent and that it would stop its offensive in northeastern Syria.

Trump said Turkey, the Kurds and Syria had been fighting "for centuries", noting that Washington had managed to stabilize the ceasefire and had defeated ISIS "100 percent."

Trump called on countries in the region to take responsibility and asked Turkey to respect its commitments to the Kurds and fight against ISIS.

With regard to the presence of US forces in the region, Trump stressed that a small part of these forces will remain to protect the oil fields and prevent ISIS from reaching them again.

Trump has pledged to send US troops only when it comes to protecting national interests, saying his administration is ready to take the blame.
