The opening of the "tenth" camp for Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan region and the number of arrivals in the escalation
ARK News: A new camp for Syrian refugees has been opened in the Kurdistan region after the arrival of new IDPs from the areas of engagement in Syrian Kurdistan due to the Turkish military operation that started on the ninth of this month, thus, the number of camps for Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan region to ten camps.
The new camp is located in Bardarash, 70 km from Erbil in the north-west of Erbil.
According to statistics issued by the Barzani Charity Foundation BCF, arrived in the Kurdistan region from the ninth of this month and until 12 noon from the date of Friday 18 October 2019, to 2399 displaced (479 families), while 742 IDPs from Syrian Kurdistan arrived in the region only during the past 24 hours.
On Thursday .826 IDRs arrived in Syria from Kurdistan to Bardarash camp, the first batch arriving to the camp, and were welcomed by the Barzani Charity Foundation and the American organization LDS, and it arrived also on Friday a new batch consisting of about 700 displaced people to the same camp.
Around 230,000 Syrian refugees live in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, about 40% of whom live in nine camps in the governorates of Duhok, Erbil and Sulaimaniyah.
