Egypt calls for stopping of conducting demographic engineering to modify demographics in northern Syria
ARK News: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri, on Saturday, said that the Turkish attack was blatant aggression and a violation of Syrian sovereignty, pointing out that the Turkish attack threatens the Arab countries and undermines the political solution in Syria.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the "Turkish aggression on Syrian territory."
The statement added that "this step represents a blatant and unacceptable attack on the sovereignty of a brotherly Arab state, taking advantage of the circumstances and the current developments, in contravention of the rules of international law."
The statement called on the international community, represented by the Security Council, to "address this very serious development which threatens international peace and security, and stop any efforts aimed at occupying Syrian territory or conducting demographic engineering to modify the demographics of northern Syria. "
The statement also warned of the consequences of the Turkish move on the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, or the course of the political process in Syria in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254.
In the context, Egypt called on for an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council which held on Saturday at the level of foreign ministers, where the meeting condemned the Turkish aggression in northern Syria to discuss developments and ways to maintain the sovereignty of Syria and the unity of its people and territorial integrity.
