Statement on Turkish attack

ARK News: In a dangerous escalation, on 9 October 2019, Turkish forces, supported by armed factions of the so-called National Army, carried out their threat against PYD militants and invaded the Syrian border in areas of Syrian Kurdistan east of the Euphrates.

This invasion of the border is the violate international laws and customs and has so far caused martyrs and injury of a number of civilians in different areas on the entire border and the processes of mass displacement of cities and villages, which fall within the circle of military operations, and increasing the severity of anxiety and fear among the people of the region with all components of the participation of the notorious armed groups in this operation,

Because these groups have a long record of crimes committed in Afrin by killing and looting the homes of civilians, and their participation comes with the support of the National Coalition, this support, which is condemned by the Kurdish Council because it contradicts the understanding on the privacy of the Kurdish areas and ignores the document signed with the National Council.

The Kurdish National Council is condemning this attack, which was reckless and challenging to the opinion of a wide international circles in the world, condemned the process from its first moments, at a time when Turkey does not hide its intention to return the Syrian refugees to the areas they enter, causing a demographic change as long as it sought. The Council also appeals to the international community, the United Nations, the Arab States and other States concerned to shoulder their responsibilities in stopping the attack and military actions that aggravate the situation and lead to a worsening of the humanitarian and relief situation and to seek peaceful solutions that achieve security and stability in the region, including finding a just solution to the issue of the Kurdish people in Syria, the Council also calls the PYD to refrain from policies and practices pretexts taken by Turkey's military intervention to the Kurdish areas.

They are demanding that fighters stay away from residential areas and not use them as a battleground to avoid further civilian casualties.
