A statement issued by the Cairo platform of the Syrian opposition on the Turkish military entry into Syrian territory

ARK News: We at the Cairo platform of the Syrian Opposition are following with great concern the fighting in the north of Syria between the Turkish army is backed by some military factions of Syrian fighters and SDF forces, following President Donald Trump's announcement of the withdrawal of US troops from areas in the northeast of Syria.

We strongly reject these military actions and consider them an additional war in Syria that will lead to more casualties, especially among civilians, and more waves of displacement and migration. It will add further complexity to the course of a political solution that has worked and is still working all the national political forces to maturity and bring it to light for the sake of a unified democratic Syria, for all its citizens of different ethnic, religious and political affiliations.

Therefore, the Cairo Platform demands an immediate cessation of these acts, the Syrian opposition forces demand that they be a party to a political dialogue between the Turkish state and the Kurdish political parties and forces under the auspices and support of the Arab League and the international community, in order to find political understandings leading to the cessation of violence and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and the safety of its citizens, as well as respond to the security concerns of Turkey.

We also reject coercive demographic changes resulting from violence or any other means in northeastern Syria, as in any part of Syria.
