Turkish Defense Minister: The safe area will provide security and stability for the Kurds
ARK News: Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that the safe area, which is being established now would provide security and stability to the region's components, including the Kurds.
This came during a telephone conversation with his US counterpart Mark Esper, on Thursday, discussing efforts to form a safe area in northern Syria, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Defense Ministry.
Akar explained that the safe area would provide security and stability not only for Turkey but for those live in the region, including Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen, Assyrians, Christians, and other religious and ethnic groups.
He pointed out that his country aims to clear the region of all organizations such as "Da’esh" and "PKK / PYD / YPG", and the establishment of a peace corridor to ensure the return of Syrian refugees to their land and homeland.
Ankara and Washington on August 7, reached an agreement to establish a "joint operations center" in Turkey to coordinate and manage the construction of the safe zone.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Tuesday, said on the upcoming Turkish operation in the east of the Euphrates: "We can no longer wait for a day, and we have no choice but to continue on our way."
