Pederson: The Constitutional Committee includes members from Syrian Kurds and all components of Syrian society
ARK News: The UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, confirmed that the Constitutional Committee includes members from Syrian Kurds and all components of Syrian society.
"I did not count the number of members of the committee from the ethnic side of the committee, but I can say that there are Kurdish members of the committee," Pederson said in an interview with Sputnik.
Pederson added that "I think we have succeeded in bringing a large segment of the various components of Syrian society together in the Constitutional Committee, as well as members with diverse views”.
Pederson continued saying: "What we have is a credible and balanced committee to have the legitimacy to be able to develop reliable outcomes for discussions”.
In response to a question about the number of members from northeastern Syria, Pederson stressed, "as I said, I will not touch such discussions, I will not go into different details for those who are represented within the committee."
