Lavrov: America exploits PYD and Turkey is very right to the “safe zone”
ARK News: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that Turkey is very right to claim the "safe zone" in Syrian Kurdistan, because it faces problems because of "terrorists", according to his claim, infiltrating from the area under the control of the United States.
This came on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, in response to a question to journalists, on Friday evening on 27 September 2019, on the planned safe area in Syrian Kurdistan, and talks between Ankara and Washington.
The Russian minister said: "Turkey is very right in this demand because it is facing problems at the moment because of terrorists as they claim who infiltrate the area under the control of the United States."
He pointed out that Moscow does not stand idly towards the safe area as it belongs to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria, and Moscow is discussing in this regard with Ankara and Washington.
"Americans are using the PYD in the region," he said, adding that "concrete steps have been taken to create the pillars of autonomy."
On last August 7, Ankara and Washington reached an agreement to establish a "joint operations center" in Turkey to coordinate and manage the establishment of the "safe area" in Syrian Kurdistan.
