ARK News: Mustafa Simkamoor, the national figure, died on Monday 23.09.2019 after an incurable illness in a hospital in Damascus, and his body was transferred to his village Mazra in the countryside of Derik in Syrian Kurdistan.

His biography

Mustafa Ismail Haji, known as "Mustapha Simkamoor", was born in the village of Ain Dewar of the city of Derik in 1943, who is from the village of Mazra and prominent national figures in Syrian Kurdistan and the Kurdistan region of Iraq, in addition to he is known for his national positions and services for the Kurdish cause.

He joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria at the beginning of the establishment of the party in 1957, and supported the Aylul and Gulan Revolutions in Iraqi Kurdistan, and visited Kurdistan several times and met with Mullah Mustafa Barzani the immortal.

Mustafa Simkamoor played an important role in providing support during the 1991 uprising, and raised his sons to love the Kurdish nationalism and Barzani's approach, and for that reason he was arrested and tortured more than once, last of which was in 1985 where he was put in Aleppo prison on charges of cooperation with the Peshmerga and the revolution and his support to them.

He died on Monday morning 23.09.2019 in a hospital in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and his body was transferred to his village Mazra in the countryside of Derik in Syrian Kurdistan.
