Sep 20 2019

ARK News: Council of Civil Afrin issued on Thursday 19 September 2019 a statement regarding the status of the situation in the Kurdish region of Afrin. Following is the text of the statement:

It is no secret to one of the successive disasters that have afflicted Afrin and its people, after it became an open arena since it was taken over by PYD forces and driven its youth into the fights of no interest for the people of Afrin at all, which led to reactions from the Turkish side and the armed factions through the Olive Branch operation, with a view to controlling them and handing over their management to their children, as agreed by all parties, however, the provisions of the agreement were not adhered to, and accordingly its provisions were not implemented as received, which resulted in absolute control of the factions overall Afrin areas, their villages, towns, and cities, and the spread of looting, vandalism, displacement and killings without respect for humanitarian conventions, which prompted the Council to convene a consultation meeting on what happened and what is happening now, and serious search for alternative solutions to get Afrin out of the disastrous situation.

Based on the above, and based on the data, and after several consultative meetings between the members of the Afrin civil council in the Diaspora, it was agreed on several points to be implemented in the near future, the most important of which are:

1. A wide-ranging consultative meeting will be held to include all parties, civil, party and cultural activities of Afrin residents who are living in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

2- The name of the Afrin civil council in the Diaspora was changed to the Council of Civil Afrin, and the aim of the Council is not to limit itself to the Afrin issue in the Diaspora.

3. The logo of the Council has been changed to suit the new designation, as well as to confirm the steps which have taken recently.

4 The work on an alternative future project of the project, which did not achieve what we aspired to.

All decisions and inquiries on the above will be discussed during the consultative meeting, which will be held in the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq in the near future.

Hand in hand for the benefit of Afrin and its people
