Dr. Kawa Azizi... The safe area and risks of Turkish intervention

ARK News: Northern Syria and northeastern Syria - Syrian Kurdistan -have been subjected to severe aggressive attacks that ultimately led to the displacement of a large part of the Kurds from Tel Aran, Tel Hasil, Afrin, Izaz al-Bab, Kobani, and Al-Jazira. These barbaric attacks were carried out in several phases by the hardline Syrian Arab and Islamic factions, followed by al-Nusra Front and finally ISIS.

But in fact, the role of the PYD in the displacement of the Kurds is no less dangerous than those previous roles. Its repressive policy against its Kurdish opponents from arrest, assassination, kidnapping to exile, mismanagement, corruption, unemployment, monopoly of political decision, war and peace decision, imposition of unrecognized educational programs and with illiterate teachers, and finally, compulsory recruitment and sacrifice of the sons of the Syrian Kurdistan in the battles of Deir al-Zour and Raqqa in order to take the legitimacy of the PKK, and then the PYD cut off the historical Kurdish political movement in Syria.

Thus, all this led to a large Kurdish migration and a dangerous demographic change in favor of the Arabs, as a result, the Kurdish areas have shifted from a majority of Kurds to an Arab majority and there has been a serious demographic change.

We all know what happened and what is happening in the Kurdish town of Afrin, and the testimony of the United Nations war crimes occur there are a demographic change, displacement and racial discrimination against the Kurds and the legalization of theft, rape, murder, and kidnapping. This policy is still ongoing, where the percentage of Kurds in Afrin before 2011 changed from more than 95% to less than 30%. This percentage is in direct decline with time in terms of the continued displacement and the increasing settlement of Arab settlers in the homes of Kurds.

The Kurdish situation in the east of the Euphrates is no better than the Kurdish situation in the west. The PYD policy led to the displacement of the Kurds and kept the Arabs immersed and their protection, and after the events of 2011, tens of thousands of Arabs from Deir al-Zour, Raqqa and other areas emigrated to the Kurdish region, while the Kurdish element in massive bleeding is constantly coming out of the region, and the Kurds are now turning into a minority in the regions in the east of the Euphrates at the time that Kurds were a majority before 2011.

We welcomed the safe area which declared by the US president, in northern and eastern Syria, with a depth of 5 to 18 kilometers from the Tigris to the Euphrates, in fact, it represents the backbone of Syrian Kurdistan. According to the US statements, SDF will emerge from it and a new administration will be elected from all components in addition to a force from the region to protect the security of the region.

But Turkey, which emptied its hatred in Afrin against the Kurds, did not recover hatred and want to eliminate the final and liquidate the Kurdish issue in Syria through its efforts to control militarily on that region and up to 50 km deep and cleaned of terrorists as alleged, and thus displacing the rest of the Kurds there to other areas, One and a half million Arab refugees are living in the region through building cities and villages for them in the Kurdish region.

If this happens, it will be a deadly Arab Belt for the Kurds and an end to the Kurdish issue in Syria forever. In spite of the magnitude of these great risks, the PYD is not in its program to end its hostility with the Kurdish National Council or with the Kurdish parties outside their will and to end their relationship with the PKK, and to give a justification for Turkey to attack the region.

The future of the Kurds is now in the hands of America. As soon as it lifts its hand from the region, the Turkish army and the Syrian National Army will invade the Kurdish region, they will plunder everything, kill whatever they want, displace the remaining Kurds and open the door of Arab settlement to the region.

All hope now is in America and we hope that America presses on the PYD, and obliges it to accept the entry of Roj Peshmerga and the election of a new administration and a new social contract and the removal of PKK elements from Syrian Kurdistan, and the introduction of the Kurdish region under the protection of the United States and Western and achieve the wishes of the Kurds in security, stability and presence.

The Kurds are a very important element of the balance of power in Syria, Iraq and the Middle East and that the neglect of the Kurdish issue as happened in the First and Second World Wars is not in favor of anyone but the evil forces that want to destroy Western civilization
