ARK News: Turkish Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that Ankara will not allow procrastination as happened in Manbij, and move away from the main objective regarding the safe area in northern Syria.

This came at a press conference, on Tuesday, after the government meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the presidential compound in the capital Ankara.

“We cannot be sure that the area (in northern Syria) has turned into a completely safe place based on the information of the Americans and we have to make sure through our sources," Kalin said.

"We will not allow things like procrastination, as happened in Manbij, and distract attention and move away from the main goal", he continued.

He stressed that the steps regarding the formation of the safe area within the framework of the understanding reached with the United States are going fast.

He pointed out that Turkey's goal is to ensure security in the area from the east of the Euphrates to the Iraqi border and not a specific area and cleared it completely.

"If the issue of the safe zone turns into a safe zone for the PKK and the PYD, to 10, 20 or 30 kilometers below the border, and if we have any doubts, Turkey has the potential and the ability to actually form the safe zone", he added.
