Putin and Merkel discuss the Syrian file

ARK News: Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed in a telephone call on Thursday a series of files which are Syria key issues.
German government spokesman Stephen Seibert said in a press statement that the German chancellor and the Russian president "exchanged views on the situation in Syria, especially the military escalation in the north-east of the country, and to engage in a political process under the auspices of the United Nations to overcome the crisis. "
Both Putin and Merkel expressed support for the UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson.
