Erdogan: We will not allow Washington to postpone plans to establish a safe area
ARK News: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey's agreement with the United States to establish a "safe zone" in northeastern Syria was "a correct step" and that Ankara would not allow Washington to postpone the plan, according to what CNN reported on Thursday.
Ankara revealed last week that the Joint Operations Center for the proposed safe zone in the eastern Euphrates region is now fully operational.
Erdogan told reporters on his return from Moscow after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin that the agreement with the United States is a correct step towards the establishment of a safe area "and the withdrawal of the PYD militants from the east of the Euphrates River"
Erdogan said that Turkey would not accept to delay the plan, comparing it with an earlier agreement with Washington to pull out armed militants from the city of Manbij in northern Syria.
