A communiqué issued by the meeting of the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in Syria

ARK news: The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in Syria ENKS held on August 22, 2019, its regular meeting and discussed the points on its agenda which included the political situation and the diplomatic efforts of the Council towards those updates and developments, as well as the organizational status of the Council's offices and its work.

The General Secretariat of the Council has followed with interest the developments in the situation and the successive discussions between the United States and Turkey and the issues addressed in a brief statement which included items calling for speedy response to Turkish security concerns and the formation of a joint operations room to coordinate and manage the establishment of a safe area, and make efforts to bring displaced Syrians home, the statement of the agreement received an echo and interest from the concerned countries on the Syrian issue and among the Kurdish people and their political forces, the interest in the agreement came that it was able to remove the specter of war from the region, which made its people live in a state of anticipation, anxiety and fear of the repercussions of this if, especially since the image of the Afrin region and the horrific violations witnessed by militias of armed groups before their eyes.

In this regard, the Secretariat renewed the Council's position on the need for the safe area to be established under international supervision and patronage and the availability of protecting to all its components, and to manage the Kurdish areas in the east of the Euphrates a joint management of the Kurds and components who are living with them and a joint military force which take the Roj Peshmerga a natural place and become a factor of safety and tranquility for all.

The Secretariat affirmed that the Council stands by any endeavor that avoids the danger of military interventions and the horrors and atrocities that it carries out and further complicates of the current situation, and it considered the importance of the vision of the Kurdish National Council on determining the future and stability of the region, and it stressed also that despite the Council's standing with the right of safe return of refugees and forcibly displaced people to their homes and areas from which they were displaced, thus, it refuses to use this return in the settlement in order to create a demographic change, whether in this region or in any part of Syria, which has been exposed in most of the areas to forced displacement of their sons.

The Secretariat considered that the best solution to put an end to all tensions and mobile violence in the country is to activate the political process and find a political solution which based on the resolutions of international legitimacy, especially the resolution 2254, and to speed up the formation of the Constitutional Committee and launch its work, and called upon the international community and the states concerned to assume their responsibility in this regard, in this context, the Secretariat saw the need for exerting more diplomatic efforts and communicating with the concerned parties to clarify the Council's vision transparently on the current developments and about the political process, the future of the country and resolve the Kurdish issue there.

As for the situation in Afrin, the General Secretariat of the Council renewed its condemnation of the continuous violations against Afrin sons and areas by militias of armed groups and called for holding them accountable and taking them out of there and handing over the administration of the region to its people and providing international protection for them.

The Secretariat also stopped on the suffering of the sons of Idlib region, and condemned what they are exposed to killing and displacement after launching regime forces and its allies the attack on their areas and innocent citizens became between the raging breakthroughs consensus to reduce escalation and between the continuation the armed clashes there.

The General Secretariat dealt the organizational situation and the work of the Council's offices and took decisions that will activate and develop the work of the Council in the field of organizational and public and serve the cause of our Kurdish people and the realization of national rights and building a democratic and federal Syria for all Syrians.
