Russia officially recognizes the participation of its soldiers in the battles of Idlib

ARK News: Russia officially recognized the participation of its soldiers in the battles between regime forces and fighting factions in the southern countryside of Idlib.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that Russian military forces were on the ground in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.

Lavrov's comments came during a press conference he held in the Russian capital, Moscow, with his Ghanaian counterpart, Shirley Aerocor Potshoe.

According to Lavrov, the Turkish side was informed that Moscow would severely suppress any "terrorist attacks" in the de-escalation zone.

The fronts of Idlib are witnessing battles and clashes between Assad's forces and fighting factions, amid advances by regime forces in the southern countryside of Idlib.

The regime forces, backed by the Russian Air Force, took control of villages and towns west of Khan Sheikhoun city before the siege was imposed yesterday.

The latest developments come ahead of Putin's meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on September 11 in Istanbul in a tripartite summit that also includes Iranian President Hasan Rouhani.
